25th India-UK Defence Consultative Group Meeting Focuses on R&D, Military Cooperation and Indo-Pacific Security

India and the UK emphasized further strengthening defense industrial cooperation. The 25th India-UK Defence Consultative Group (DCG) Meeting, held in New Delhi on August 21, 2026, was co-chaired by Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and UK Permanent Under-Secretary (PUS) Jeremy Pocklington.

The meeting reviewed the progress of cooperation in the defence sector including Research and Development under the ‘India-UK Vision 2035’ and the ten-year defence industrial roadmap. Both sides agreed to further deepen military ties through joint exercises, training, and capacity building.

Priority was also accorded to maritime security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific. Both countries underscored the importance of establishing a Regional Maritime Security Centre of Excellence (RMSCE) under the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative (IPOI).

Sharing views on regional peace and security, both sides reiterated their commitment to mutual security and strategic autonomy. They stated that the India-UK strategic partnership is based on shared values ​​of peace, stability, freedom, and mutual respect.

Jeremy Pocklington’s maiden visit to India gave fresh impetus to the long-standing defense cooperation between the two nations. Paying tribute at the National War Memorial, visits to key institutions, and bilateral talks with CDS General N.S. Raja Subramani underscored the commitment of both countries to sustained dialogue on shared security interests and strategic issues.
